Manchester United To Buy Slovakian Star Midfielder

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

According to reports, Manchester United have lined up a £25m summer transfer bid for Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik.

The fact that Ryan Giggs is beginning to age, and the fact that veteran midfielder Paul Scholes will only have his name on old soccer memorabilia soon has surely brought to Alex Fergusons attention that some expensive midfielders are required to boost the team.

Signing the talented Hamsik, who is also a target for Chelsea and was reported to be on Liverpool’s radar earlier in the season, would certainly give United an added attacking threat from the midfield. Starting his career with Slovan Bratislava the Slovakian international quickly proved his ability and was bought by Brescia. Managing to score 10 goals at Brescia from the midfield before being lifted from the team for 5.5 m Euros to move to Napoli.

Since joining Napoli in 2007, the goal scoring efforts of Hamsik have made him one of the best in Serie A. Many strikers would be proud to boast a similar strikerate as Hamsik with 25 goals from 81 games. After giving Napoli their first win over Juventus in Turin in 21 years with an excellent two goals Hamsik has quickly became known as the best midfielder in Serie A.

Hamsik’s form for Slovakia has been equally impressive. Expected to be one of the major stars of the upcoming World Cup his efforts might put him down into soccer history forever.

Riccardo Bigon however has stated over the last few weeks that they have no intention of selling the player.

“Manchester United are after Hamsik? If we rejected the rumours regarding a friend like [Carlo] Ancelotti and his Chelsea, it is obvious we also reject these rumours.”

These comments have since been substantiated by Napoli chairman Aurielo De Laurentiis who confirmed:

“Many clubs have requested Hamsik, it’s true, but he will stay with us for the long-term”

Whether this stance will soften in the summer, when United hope to make their move, remains to be seen. Whether Napoli really plans to keep Hamsik into the future only time will tell, with not a lot of cash in the club it can be hard to see them not be at least tempted to sell the player if the offer is right.

Chelsea’s desperation to buy players may push any deals between the two clubs away. Roman Abramovich has purportedly given manager Carlo Ancelotti the green light to make a £25m move for the player so they might beat Manchester United to the punch

However the early travel packages which include travel, accommodation and sightseeing options on a budget,  are all but gone. More expensive packages are still on the market, but you need to act quickly, since the tournament is scheduled to begin on June 11th and last until July 11th

All nine World Cup host cities have airports nearby, including South African Express which travels to 13 South African domestic destinations, Airlink is a regional carrier that is growing, Kulula is a budget airline and travels to several host cities such as Cape Town and Durban, Mango airlines which flies to Johannesburg,  Cape Town, Pretoria and Bloemfontein-all host cities, Venture Air which flies to Johannesburg and Cape Town and 1Time, which is another regional low cost carrier.

Most of the World Cup action will take place in Johannesburg and Cape Town, but in addition to air travel, there is rail or bus service between the host cities. Your travel agent should also include this in your world cup packages because the number of cars available for rent are limited.Licensed taxis, coaches, shuttles and regular buses are all being geared up to accommodate the more than 3 million football fans expected to descend on South Africa during the tournament.

Don’t despair if you don’t have tickets to a match. You can still soak up the atmosphere in 10 fan parks to be created near the stadiums. In fact it is anticipated that more people will watch the games from the fan parks than actually within the stadiums. Ask your World Cup travel agent to supply you with a list of the location of the various fan parks. You will be happy that you did. Enjoy the party, but don’t get too drunk as police will deny access to anyone showing drunken behavior outside the stadiums or fan parks.

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

Locating these world cup packages will take a little patience and homework but it will be worth it in the end. In fact, with the World Cup it is better to book everything in advance to eliminate the hassle for when you get there. Booking in advance leaves you able to enjoy all the festivities of the tournament without any stress. The World Cup will play during South Africa's winter season, so it will be cool and rainy depending on which part of the country you will be in. Think climate similar to what it would be in California in America or in Southwestern Australia in the land down under.

Transportation between the nine host cities will be either by high speed rail, rapid transit bus, taxi or rental car. Hire cars should be booked in advance in order to secure one for when you need it. Ask your travel agent to make the booking. Ensure you know the local driving regulations and insurance rules if you plan to drive. However, if you decide to use a taxi ask the concierge at your hotel which firm is trustworthy and licensed.Beware of buying tickets once you land because they may be invalid or counterfeit. Make sure you check any tickets with the official ticketing organisation to determine if your tickets are the real McCoy or fake. The government of South Africa and FIFA have put into place a zero tolerance policy outlawing racism and xenophobia. Beginning Exercises to Assist Your Vertical Jump

Monday, December 28th, 2009

Are you looking for some fundamental exercises to develop your vertical leap? Since there are several, we’ll help you reduce the list a little. Here are some basic ones that are an excellent place to start your training. You need to make sure that you follow them exactly. Many people perform the correct exercises, but they don’t do them correctly. Start with the exercises we outline below and you will have a good groundwork for improving you vertical jump.

You may think the only muscles you need to work on throughout your vertical jumping workouts are your leg muscles, but that’s not the case. The muscles in the back and waist are also especially important. The erector muscles are the strongest muscles in the back and take on the most work. Your program should consist of exercises for the back and waist areas as well. Which brings us to our first exercise.

Dead Lifts

A good exercise to start with is the dead lift. Arch your back, bend your knees while holding the weighted bar. Come to an upright position while holding the bar. Slowly lower the weight back down. Complete three sets of 6-8 repetitions. To steer clear of injury, do not yank the bar, but perform the exercise quickly and steadily. Take a brief rest after these first 3 sets. Then do the next set, but this time take your time and feel the full range of your muscles.

Leg Presses

Another good exercise is leg presses. Load a leg press machine with weights. Set your feet high and away from you. Allow the weight to come down as far as you can and then, pretending like you are jumping, push the weight back up quickly. You don’t leap in slow motion, so you don’t want to exercise in slow motion. Your muscles function explosively when you are jumping, so you have to train them that way in your exercises as well. Repeat this exercise six times – and perform five sets. Take a short pause between each set.

Medicine Ball

Lastly, utilize a heavy medicine ball in place of a basketball. Make believe you are going to slam dunk, but don’t in reality throw the ball! Embellish the movements and reach for the rim. This will help build up all the muscles you will be using when you slam dunk for real. As with the leg presses, make sure to be explosive when you perform this exercise.

These three exercises are just three of many that can help improve your vertical jump and learn how to jump higher. Mix these with additional jumping exercises. Keep in mind that correct form is just as crucial as the weight and the number of reps.
